Our go-to engine on both iOS and Android is definitely Stockfish. Stockfish is an extremely strong chess engine and it's extremely useful to have such a powerful tool in your pocket while analysing your games. As Stockfish is Open Source, there are several apps available for both iOS and Android, but our choices are Droidfish for Android and the official Stockfish app for iOS.

Play Magnus

If you’re looking to play a game or two against a strong chess engine, Play Magnus is a very fun way of doing so. Instead of playing against chess engines of different levels, you’ll play against an engine that is optimised to play as Magnus at different ages. The developers have tried to mimic the openings and playing styles of Magnus and integrate them inside the engine to make playing against the computer fun again.
